Terms and Conditions II

The relentless self-centered lust for power over, dominance of, people, places and the resources they represent is inherently destructive. Quests for a god like form of control, one that elevates your every desire and whim and seeks to ensure your every impulse becomes a commandment – well, that hunger for control exists a bit in all of us.

From the moment we first gain consciousness of our own vulnerability and mortality we must deal with the impulse to run hard in a demonish drive to outwit our circumstances.

Who wouldn’t want to guarantee our own safety and comfort, while resting comfortably on a throne of superiority? Seductive.

But these are lies. Security and superiority are not in the “terms and conditions” of life on earth. Dominance requires destruction. Annihilation and force. Living in one place, living off another. Living off others. At their expense.

We are all vulnerable creatures making our way on this one single planet belonging to one species, capable of inspired beauty, divine genius, a reflection of the almighty power that brought us into existence.

Most of us come to understand our place in the world – a part – not apart, we marvel that we exist at all. We experience a deep sense of gratitude and find communion with one another. The peace and creativity that come with acceptance are our rewards.

Others overtaken by lust, grab all they can and relish the power to destroy. And build a throne out of the ashes of what they burned.

How do we deal with them? Really. How?
